Carefree, fun, nostalgia…what does cotton candy call to mind? Oscar William Gourmet Cotton Candy brings that back — and more — with a hip, new spin on the classic confection as a mobile cotton candy company. Founded in April 2013, Oscar William is family owned and run by husband-and-wife team William and Tasha Kornegay with their son, Kyree.
The trio are just as sweet as their creations.
“The best part about spinning cotton candy is being able to give people of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds the opportunity to have a treat and a smile,” said Tasha.
The Kornegays are also innovative. With over 20 flavors of organic, kosher cotton candy — like lemonade, strawberry daiquiri and vanilla — the company is now featuring special fall flavors such as pumpkin spice, sour apple and caramel. You can even purchase Oscar Williams brand refills from their website that will work in just about any home cotton candy maker.
“This experience has helped me understand the ins and outs of how a business works; I look at products a little differently now. The importance of branding, the fine details that go into making a business a brand, and the ongoing hard work it takes to be a successful business and business owner,” said Kyree as he explained how it’s truly a family affair.
The Oscar William team is designing seasonal flavor lines for the home connoisseur as well. Imagine peppermint cotton candy at your holiday gathering. Or maybe there are visions of spun sugar plums dancing in your head. Whatever your taste buds desire, Oscar William’s got you covered. That’s a holiday tradition that just may stick.
And keep them in mind, party planners. Oscar William will spin at your next wedding, party or company event. Watching the experts at work is entertainment in itself. The team has fun and makes their job an art.
The spun sugar specialists recently demonstrated their skills at a celebration at Cary’s Peachy Keen Boutique — another family owned and operated company, featuring designer women’s clothing, vintage and estate jewelry, and jewelry by local designers. Together, these family-run businesses wowed the women of Cary.

“It feels like a community/family business, their suggestions and encouragement have kept us going and growing,” said William.
