As soon as the temperatures drop just a touch, I know my favorite season — fall — is on its way. I love the smells, the sounds, the tastes of fall in the Triangle. I love the local events, and I love the cozy clothing. For Activate Good, fall also means the return of Couture for a Cause.

Couture for a Cause — Activate Good’s annual fall fashion show fundraiser and auction — attracts over 500 locals of all ages and backgrounds for a one-of-a-kind event held in downtown Raleigh. We pair local designers with some of Activate Good’s nonprofit partners and designers create ready-to-wear and couture outfits inspired by those nonprofits. So imagine, if you will, an artistic rendering of one of our community’s amazing causes embodied in clothing.

Where else but Couture for a Cause can you spot a cocktail dress made of real, gold-painted rose petals or a shovel-bodice short and top set inspired by a local gardening nonprofit? Or harem pants and top made of upholstery materials and garnished with a lampshade hat? Or sleek, armor-influenced attire conveying the power of education with pencil-pauldrons?

While the show boasts gobs of imaginative fashion, it’s all wearable, and guests are invited to participate in the event’s live auction during which they can bid on and take home the actual garments displayed during the runway show. Whether you’re looking for a statement piece or a new party look, taking home runway outfits through Couture for a Cause’s live auction is a surefire way to start a conversation at your next house party.

In addition to the runway show and live auction, guests can participate in a silent auction (great for Christmas shopping — spa, restaurant and photo packages, and vacations are all on the silent auction menu!) as well as enjoy hors d’oeuvre and a cash bar. Get the VIP ticket to ensure seating in the first few rows by the runway (as well as a swag bag, and access to an exclusive VIP entrance and lounge). All funds raised at Couture for a Cause benefit Activate Good’s programs, which serve over 200 charities around the Triangle.

So mark your calendars: This year’s Couture for a Cause will take place Saturday, November 15 at Marbles Kids Museum. You can get your tickets online and start planning for a fun and fashionable date night or friend’s night out on what’s sure to be a magical, crisp fall evening in beautiful downtown Raleigh, all while contributing to a great cause.
